Our e-newsletter, Footnotes is published twice a month. The editors are excited about their ideas for the newsletter and are always happy to accept article contributions. There are many ways to participate in the Association. Our committees are growing and always looking for new members. MPA committees include Membership, Meetings, Pro Bono, Newsletter, and others. Participating in committee work allows members to get to know each other better, which is helpful in networking within the paralegal profession.
Members also enjoy the benefit of the MPA Job Bank, offered free of charge to MPA members. Advertisements of available local job positions are issued to Job Bank participants by email or fax and a number of local employers regularly utilize the MPA Job Bank. Through an agreement with IUSB, MPA also advertises job notices made available to the IUSB paralegal program.
On the national level, MPA is a voting member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (“NFPA”), a professional organization of state and local paralegal associations with over 17,000 members nationwide. Through this affiliation MPA members receive “The National Paralegal Reporter,” NFPA's nationally circulated magazine, as well as numerous membership benefits on the national level. MPA sends a representative to NFPA conventions each year to cast its vote on issues of national consequence. MPA also participates in the Indiana Alliance, a coalition of paralegal associations within Indiana including MPA, the Northeast Indiana Paralegal Association (NIPA) based in Fort Wayne, the Indiana Paralegal Association (IPA) based in Indianapolis, and the Indiana Legal Associations (ILA) based in Evansville.
This is just a sample of what the Michiana Paralegal Association is about. Feel free to email any board member with questions. We would like to have you and a paralegal friend of yours join us at our next membership dinner meeting. Check the calendar page for the date and location. We look forward to seeing you there.
