The Michiana Paralegal Association was established in 1989 to promote the professional and business interests of persons engaging in the paralegal profession. Today, we continue that mission with bimonthly dinner meetings, support, encouragement and recognition of the outstanding accomplishments of our members.

November Dinner Meeting

Speaker: Kathy Starck, Esq. - Thomson West

Topic: Westlaw for Paralegals

Kathy Starck will be presenting on how to Access Westlaw, how to select and customize Tabs (Indiana, Paralegal, Public Records, etc.), how to find documents by citation, party name and statute, how to print, download and email, how to find information on people and companies, and how to use a variety of other useful functions. Even if you use another legal research tool, this is a great opportunity to expand your skills as a paralegal and get NFPA CLE credit (1.0 hours) at the same time!

The cost is $12 for members and $13 for non-members. The menu will feature a meat/cheese tray from Macri’s Deli, along with all of the associated breads, crackers and chips, and delectable cheesecake for dessert!

Announcements/News

MPA is collecting Teddy Bears! Many officers are faced with having to comfort children during or immediately following a tragedy. Having a stuffed friend to give the child can add to his comfort and begin the healing process immediately. Teddy bears that are collected will be given to law enforcement officers in St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Kosciusko Counties. Bears need to be new and will be collected at all of the upcoming dinner meetings. For more information, contact Christina Thrush VotingDirector1@michianaparalegals.org.
